Assistant/Associate Professor of Educational ResearchThe Leadership and Educational Studies Department in the Reich College of Education (RCOE) at Appalachian State University seeks to fill a 9-month, tenure-track faculty position as an educational research generalist. We are seeking candidates who have a strong understanding of foundations of educational research; deep familiarity with qualitative, quantitative and mixed methods research perspectives, traditions, and strategies; and experience with or interest in applied or theoretical educational research or program evaluation and policy analysis in areas complimentary to programs in the department and college. Faculty teach both on and off campus at sites throughout the region.
The Department of Leadership and Educational Studies (LES) includes programs in Instructional Technology, Library Science, Higher Education and School Administration as well as courses in Educational research and Foundations. Research courses serve programs in several RCOE departments which gives the appointee for this position the exciting opportunity to collaborate with faculty and students across departmental boundaries. The person selected will also have the opportunity to direct doctoral dissertations.
Required Qualifications:
* An earned doctorate in education or a social/behavioral science with a strong concentration in research methods
* Strong promise or demonstrated capability to teach graduate research courses
* A promising record of scholarly research
* The potential to advise graduate students and direct student research
* Significant experience in educational research design and activity
* Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with other faculty and students
* Eligibility for appointment to graduate faculty status
Preferred Qualifications:
* Strong skills and knowledge in two or more of the following areas: advanced statistical methods; psychometrics; qualitative and/or quantitative research design; or program evaluation
* Potential for obtaining extramural funding
* Knowledge and experience in technology as well as in interest in alternative instructional delivery approaches for off-campus instruction
