The Department of Educational Theory Policy and Practice Department at Louisiana State University, the flagship institution of the state, seeks application for two Assistant/Associate (Tenure-track) positions beginning August 2008 in the area of Higher Education.

Required Qualifications: (First position) Earned doctorate in Higher Education Administration, Student Affairs Administration, Counselor Education or a related area; (Second position) Earned doctorate in Higher Education, Educational Leadership or a related area; (Both positions) potential for or an established research agenda of national prominence; an extensive record of peer-reviewed work through books, publications, conference papers, grants and other recognizable achievements; demonstrated track record of excellence in teaching; prepared to immediately chair and participate on thesis and dissertation committees.

Additional Qualifications Desired: Record of securing research grants, administrative experience in a higher education setting, and leadership positions within higher education organizations.

Responsibilities: (First position) maintains an active research program in areas related to student affairs/higher education; developing working relationships and internship placements with student affairs administrative offices within the University; assists in the administration of the Master of Arts Higher Education and Student Affairs program; teaches Master’s and Doctoral courses; advises Master’s and Doctoral students interested in higher education with an emphasis on student affairs theory, practice, and policy; (Second position) maintains an active teaching and research program in areas related to finance, law, ethics or leadership in higher education; engages in research and publication seeking external funding. An offer of employment is contingent on a satisfactory pre-employment background check.
