Educational Leadership: University of Connecticut, Division of Student Affairs Neag School of Education-Department of Educational Leadership, Assistant Extension Professor in Residence Higher Education and Student Affairs (HESA) Master's Program. The University of Connecticut is a comprehensive, land-grant university located 25 miles east of Hartford and 80 miles southwest of Boston. The Higher Education and Student Affairs (HESA) Master's Program is a collaborative effort of the University Division of Student Affairs and the Department of Educational Leadership within the Neag School of Education. This 11-month, non-tenure track, Assistant Extension Professor in Residence is a member of the teaching faculty of the Department of Educational Leadership and is responsible to support assessment efforts within the Division of Student Affairs. The position reports to the Coordinator of the Higher Education and Student Affairs Master's Program. The instructional responsibilities for this position include teaching and advising graduate students in the Higher Education and Student Affairs Master's Program. Additional responsibilities include coordinating student assessment projects that address Division initiatives; creating career and community development initiatives for master's students; establishing program alumni networks; developing assistantship sites; assisting with program enrollment management. Salary is commensurate with background and experience. Qualifications: Earned doctorate in higher education, student affairs administration or related field; university teaching and administration experience; and ability to interact effectively in a culturally and ethnically diverse community. Preference will be given to applicants who have: a record of successfully completing assessment, evaluation, or research projects; demonstrated expertise using quantitative research methodologies to address program assessment or evaluation questions; experience in data base management; successful teaching and advising experience in a Higher Education and Student Affairs graduate program; active involvement in student affairs professional associations. Information about the Higher Education and Student Affairs (HESA) Program. This Master's Program has a 44-hour curriculum with offerings based on the competencies practitioners see as essential for highly effective new student affairs administrators. The curriculum intentionally couples concept and skill development with intensive practical application. Curricular course highlights include a first year, two-semester sequence on assessment and evaluation; fiscal, human, and technology resource management; effective intervention strategies with diverse populations; and three structured practicum opportunities that complement classroom learning. All students in each 16-person cohort are required to maintain a full time graduate assistantship. Assistantship sites include Career Services, Community Standards Office, Fraternity and Sorority Life, First Year Experience program, Senior Year Experience program, Residence Life, Campus Activities, Community Outreach, and the Vice President for Student Affairs office.
