The Higher Education program in the College of Education at the University of Maryland seeks a faculty member to fill a vacancy in the graduate program in Higher Education. Housed within the Department of Education Leadership, Higher Education, and International Education (EDHI), the Higher Education program offers both masters and doctoral degrees with specializations in policy, organizational administration, and the college experience including an emphasis on college teaching and college curriculum. This program is closely coordinated with several programs in EDHI and the College of Education.
The Higher Education program is searching for candidates for one open rank position. Primary consideration will be given to individuals who have established themselves as scholars and teachers in the area of organizational behavior and theory. However, the Higher Education program is also interested in applicants who would complement the expertise of the faculty in other areas (e.g. Law, Leadership, K-16, International).
Demonstrated success in grant writing is highly desirable. The applicants should share the programs deep concern for issues of race equity and diversity in higher education. Successful candidates will be expected to teach courses in areas such as organizational theory, administration and organization of higher education, higher education leadership, and/or core Masters/Doctoral seminars. It is also expected that the candidates will assume an active and collegial role in the department working with colleagues across all program areas.Candidates must have an earned doctorate in higher education or a related discipline. In addition, candidates should demonstrate the ability to work effectively across disciplines and professional fields with academic colleagues and practitioners. The review of applications will begin on January 31, 2008. Appointments will be made for the Fall 2008 semester.
