Assistant Professor, Tenure Track

The Department of Educational Policy, Research and Administration (EPRA) in the
School of Education at the University of Massachusetts Amherst is seeking
candidates to join a dedicated and accomplished community of faculty, students,
and staff as an Assistant Professor in Higher Education Administration with
expertise in issues related to college access. This is a full-time tenure track
position beginning in September 2008.

The School is NCATE-approved and offers a comprehensive program leading to
Master's and Doctoral degrees. We share a fundamental commitment to social
justice and the pursuit of educational excellence. Located in the Pioneer Valley
of Western Massachusetts, the University of Massachusetts Amherst is the
flagship campus of the Commonwealth's university system and is one of today's
leading centers of public higher education in the Northeast.
Qualifications: Doctorate in Higher Education or a related field; experience
with and knowledge of college access; teaching experience or the potential to
teach a diverse graduate-level student population; a strong record of scholarly
publications with a clear research agenda or evidence of that potential; a
willingness to write research proposals and work on funded projects; a
collaborative and participatory approach; and flexibility and interest in
working with faculty and students across the School of Education. Expertise in
education finance and/or community colleges is highly desirable.

Responsibilities: Develop and teach graduate-level courses in higher education
administration with emphasis on college access, including community colleges
and/or postsecondary financing; advise graduate students; conduct research and
publish scholarly work in the most prestigious journals in the field; initiate,
lead and participate in externally funded projects; and contribute to the
School's undergraduate curriculum.
