MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: An earned doctorate in education or a related field, such as economics in the social sciences. Applications from ABD candidates will be considered, provided that the individual is on track to complete the doctorate by the starting date of the appointment. Demonstrated, or potential for, success in teaching and contributing to academic program development at the graduate level in higher education. Demonstrated, or potential for, contribution to the undergraduate mission of the College. Demonstrated, or potential for, research productivity in the form of peer-reviewed publications or conference presentations. Demonstrated, or potential for, success in obtaining external funding.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Scholarly expertise, research agenda, and research productivity in one or more of the focus areas noted above. Demonstrated, or potential for, teaching and research in such areas as economics and finance, federal and state policy, accountability and institutional performance assessment.
Duties/Responsibilities This is a tenured or tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. We seek individuals with expertise in higher education finance or economics to contribute to teaching, research, and service in the area of higher education. Candidates will be expected to exhibit evidence of a multidisciplinary perspective in their teaching and research, to contribute to the multicultural aspects of education and human development, and to become engaged in translating their work into practice.Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Teaching and advisement: Strengthen the preparation of graduate students in the Department by providing instruction in a multidisciplinary and multicultural context. Teach and advise M.A., Ed.D. and Ph.D. students in the Department's graduate degree programs in higher education Contribute, as appropriate, to the development of selected undergraduate courses related to the applicant's area of scholarly expertise.
Research: Develop and maintain a strong record of basic and applied scholarship, grounded in both a multidisciplinary and multicultural arena, in the areas of higher education economics and finance, higher education policy, educational leadership and administration, with focus in such areas as federal and state policy, accountability and institutional performance assessment. Maintain a commitment to securing external funds to support the individual's scholarly inquiry.
Service: Participate in college, university, and outreach activities that exemplify models of engagement with communities. Participate in the activities of relevant professional organizations.
