Assistant Professor in Educational Leadership
The Department of Educational Leadership in the College of Education invites applications for a full-time, tenure-eligible
Assistant Professor position in Educational Leadership. Applicants for the position should have an earned doctoral degree in, or
closely associated to, educational leadership with a broad focus in educational leadership/administration, instructional
supervision, curriculum and instruction, or adult education. We are seeking a colleague who will enhance the faculty expertise in
our masters and doctoral educational leadership programs. In particular, we are seeking a generalist with the background and
expertise to teach several of the foundation (core) courses in our masters and doctoral educational leadership programs.
The successful applicant for this position will begin August 15, 2008, and will be expected to assume central roles in the
Department's Master of School Administration, Master of Education in Curriculum and Supervision, and Doctorate in
Educational Leadership (Community and School Specializations) degree programs. All programs are designed to prepare future
building and central office leadership roles for PK-12 school districts and other educational environments. The Department of
Educational Leadership has 20 full-time faculty members with specializations in school administration, educational leadership,
curriculum leadership, adult education, instructional supervision, educational research, and instructional systems technology.

Responsibilities: Teach masters and doctoral level courses in educational leadership programs; advise masters and doctoral
students; supervise internships; direct and serve on doctoral dissertation committees; obtain external funds to support research
and service activities in educational leadership or related areas; maintain scholarly productivity demonstrated through research,
refereed publications, and presentations at professional conferences; provide service to the field and profession; participate in
program, department, college, and university governance. Preference will be given to applicants who present the following
qualifications.
Qualifications: An earned doctorate in Educational Leadership or a closely related area from an accredited university;
successful teaching experience at the P-16+ level; state licensure and successful administrative experience in P-12 schools or
other educational environments; some experience with diverse students and schools (i.e., urban, high need schools, etc.); some
successful part-time or full-time teaching experience at the college or university level; demonstrated ability to conduct research,
provide service, and obtain external funding relevant to educational leadership; evidence of potential for scholarly contributions
to the field of educational leadership through research, publications, and presentations at professional meetings; evidence of the
ability to work collegially and collaboratively with colleagues.
