The Department of Curriculum and Instruction,School of Education,and The University of North Carolina at Greensboro, announce the availability of a tenure track position at the Assistant/Associate level in the Higher Education program. Applicants for this position must be qualified to teach courses in traditional face-to-face settings as well as through distance education using Blackboard.
Context: The Higher Education program is located within the Department of Curriculum and Instruction. A master's program focuses on student personnel administration in higher education, the post-master certificate focuses on college teaching, learning, and leadership, and the doctorate focuses on leadership within higher education. The University is Doctoral/Research-Intensive with an enrollment of over 16,000 located in Greensboro, a city of 240,000 in a metropolitan area of 1,490,000 with strong historical, cultural, and arts traditions and a temperate, four-season climate. We are particularly interested in candidates whose teaching and research focuses in one or more of the following areas: higher education policy and finance, assessment, student affairs administration, and diversity and social justice.
Qualifications for higher education administration position:
1. Earned doctorate in higher education administration or student affairs administration.
2. Record of publications in major higher education journals.
3. Record of involvement in national higher education associations.
4. Commitment to participative leadership.Responsibilities for higher education administration position:
1. Teach courses relating to higher education and student affairs administration in the M.Ed. and Ph.D. programs.
2. Meet expectations for scholarship and grant writing appropriate for Doctoral/Research-Intensive institution.
3. Chair and/or co-chair doctoral dissertations.
4. Contribute to the overall instructional, research, and service mission of the School of Education.Application procedure: Review of applications will begin on December 21, 2007 and continue until the position is filled.
Salary: Competitive and commensurate with experience and qualification. Starting Date: August 1, 2008.
