The University of Northern Colorado is a Doctoral Research-Extensive institution enrolling 12,000 graduate and undergraduate students, founded in 1889, located in the city of Greeley, along Colorado’s Front Range. The immediate Greeley area has a growing population of approximately 100,000, and is located 50 miles north of Denver and 30 miles east of Rocky Mountain National Park. The Higher Education and Student Affairs Leadership (HESAL) Program, housed in the School of Educational Research, Leadership & Technology (ERLT), announces a tenure track faculty position to begin Fall semester 2008. The mission of the HESAL program is to prepare leaders of excellence in higher education and student affairs who transcend expectations, have a vision of a greater ethical society, value social justice, practice exceptional administration and integrity, and are scholar-leaders who integrate theory and research into their daily lives. The program offers a Ph.D. in Higher Education and Student Affairs Leadership, collaborates with the Educational Leadership and Policy Studies program in offering an M.A. program with a concentration in higher education and student affairs leadership, and a Certificate Program in HESAL for non-major graduate students. 1. Position Title: Assistant or Associate Professor of Higher Education and Student Affairs Leadership

1. Qualifications and Experience:

Required:

1. An earned doctorate or ABD from a regionally accredited institution of higher education in higher education, student affairs, or a related field.
2. Experience in leadership roles in higher education.
3. A record of scholarship and publications appropriate for Associate Professor or demonstrated potential to be a productive scholar for Assistant Professor.

Highly desired:

1. Teaching experience in higher education. Academic qualifications and professional experience appropriate to teach courses such as administrative leadership, higher education and student affairs law, higher education policy, data-based planning and decision-making, evaluation & assessment, higher education curriculum, and higher education and student affairs finance.
2. Experience in supervision of graduate student research.
3. Expertise in quantitative research and institutional research or evidence of potential to do so.
4. Experience working with people from diverse backgrounds.
5. Involvement in higher education and student affairs professional organizations.
6. Experience in grant writing.
7. Experience in service to the university, college, school, department and/or local community.

3. Position Description: This is a full-time tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor. Responsibilities include: teach and advise master’s and doctoral students, supervise doctoral research and internships, practica and field experiences, conduct and publish research, seek funding to support research, participate in program development, collaborate with higher education and student affairs leaders within and beyond UNC, participate in professional association activities, and provide service to the university, college, school, program and/or local community.

Summer employment may be possible depending on programmatic need and University resources.
