Warner Job Postings
Higher Education Faculty Position
The Educational Leadership program in the Margaret Warner Graduate School of Education and Human Development, University of Rochester, seeks applications for a nine-month, full-time, tenure-track position as assistant or associate professor in higher education. The University of Rochester is a private non-denominational research university located in Rochester, New York.
Applicants should be able to offer graduate courses addressing the leadership and administration of institutions of higher education, advise graduate students, and supervise doctoral research in related areas. Candidates should have a strong grasp of one or more research methodologies useful in examining issues related to organizational design and institutional practices. Candidates should provide evidence of their potential for a strong program of research. Candidates should also provide evidence of potential for excellence in teaching and the capacity to engage with and assume a leadership role among scholars in the field of higher education.
Applicants should have a doctorate in higher education, higher education administration, student affairs, or a closely related field and must have a commitment to the preparation of strong educational leaders and scholars, institutional reform and management, diversity and equity, and excellence in teaching, as well as a strong theoretical background and research agenda. Experience in higher education is highly desirable, though not required.
Since 1850, the University of Rochester has been one of the country's leading private universities. Warner is a professional school committed to offering challenging education, advancing scholarship and research, and encouraging fruitful collaborations between scholarship in education and human development and current issues in practice and policy. Warner offers programs in Educational Leadership, Teaching & Curriculum, and Counseling & Human Development. We offer both master's and doctoral programs in each of these areas and actively promote the cross fertilizations of ideas by encouraging students to take courses across program lines and encouraging faculty to develop collaborations across fields. The relatively small size of our graduate school and our University make it easy to find and develop meaningful collaborations with colleagues outside of Educational Leadership, as well as within it.
The Higher Education program, which is part of Educational Leadership, is a vibrant program that has prepared college admission officers, facilities managers, financial aid officers, library administrators, student services officers and university professors. The Higher Education program is a multi-disciplinary program that allows students to pursue a master's degree, an Ed.D., or a Ph.D. The faculty in the program are productive researchers who have gained national and international reputations and who are also committed to improving the quality of higher education and preparing practitioners, and/or experienced practioners with research interests and backgrounds. The program, as well as the School, is dedicated to producing and using educational research to enhance the effectiveness of educational institutions.
