The Department of Educational Administration, Leadership, and Research at Western Kentucky University invites applications for a tenure track, Assistant or Associate Professor position in Educational Research to be filled by August 2008. The department offers research and foundation courses as well as Kentucky administration certifications and/or degrees at the Master's, Specialist, and Doctoral levels.

Qualifications for the position include an earned doctorate in educational research or a related field with extremely strong skills in research design and teaching intermediate and advanced research and/or statistics courses. A background in education that demonstrates strong professional collaboration and collegiality is also required. The successful applicant is expected to demonstrate a commitment to excellence in graduate level programs including technology-rich teaching modalities, effective student advisement, and mentoring. Candidates must have experience in serving on doctoral dissertation committees, and securing external funding through grants/contracts is preferred either as a principal investigator or as grant evaluator. Candidates at the Associate Professor level must demonstrate a strong history of scholarly endeavors; Assistant Professor level candidates must be able to demonstrate strong potential for scholarly success.

Responsibilities associated with the position include teaching graduate level quantitative research methods courses at the main and regional campuses; advising graduate students; and participating in university/community work, helping direct dissertation research, and other scholarly activities.

Finalists for the position will be required to submit official transcripts and a professional portfolio, which should include items that would help the committee judge the suitability of the candidate for the position (e.g., samples of publications/presentations, summaries of student evaluations, copies of course syllabi).
